December 7 North Bethesda, MD, The Music Center at Strathmore
The Strathmore is one of Maryland’s biggest homes for the arts. It began as The Mansion at Strathmore in 1899, a beautiful colonial-style summer home originally built by prominent Washingtonian Captain James Frederick Oyster. The house was renamed Strathmore Hall in 1979 when it was taken over by the Strathmore Hall Foundation, an organization that developed the mansion and its grounds into Montgomery County, MD’s first center for the arts. It opened its doors to the public in 1983 and now consists of multiple venues across 16 acres.
