As the Tokyo season approaches, Sarah shares her thoughts on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard and what drew her to the iconic role of Norma Desmond.
In this conversation, Sarah reflects on how she sees Sunset Boulevard as “A play, with the most amazing score in it.” why she considers it to have one of her favourite scores by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and why, after being offered many musical theatre roles over the years, this was the one that felt right. She also speaks about identifying with Norma Desmond at this stage in her life and career, and how, despite the challenges of the role, the experience has been deeply rewarding as an artist.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard opens at Tokyu Theatre Orb in Tokyo on 10th July for a strictly limited season running until 1st August. Tickets and further information are available at Sarah’s official website: https://www.sarahbrightman.com
