This album features nineteen folksongs by Benjamin Britten who was himself inspired by the revived interest in British folksongs at the turn of the century. In The Trees They Grow So High, Geoffrey Parsons accompanies Sarah on the piano.
This collection of songs, written in the 1940s through 1960s, is different from anything else that Sarah has recorded to date or since.
This is undoubtedly saying a lot, as Sarah’s recordings range from musical theatre and opera, to disco, pop and techno.
The Trees They Grow So High was also later re-released as Early One Morning with different cover art.
