First opened in 1889, this historic theatre is a national landmark and the second-largest concert hall in the US, after the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. When it opened, it was one of the first theatres in the world to be lighted with 3,500 bare carbon filament light bulbs, which are still in use today and brighten up the 6-story auditorium of the performance space.
